Astral Projection vs. Spirit Travel

Astral Projection vs. Spirit Travel

Astral projection. Likely, from either media, church, or some other dark source, you’ve heard of this practice. Also identified as soul travel, this practice is MUCH more common than you would think. At the time of my writing this, it’s just days before Halloween, and this actually plays a role in some of the Halloween (Samhain) symbolism we’re so used to seeing, namely the witch on the broom. But first, I’d like to share some past experiences with you.

My Story

Now, before you say to yourself, “Wait. Desiree’s astral projected before?!” The answer is a big, fat NO!!! LOL I was raised in a Christian household and have been saved since I was 7, filled with the Holy Ghost since I was 12. And now that that’s out of the way…

Over four years ago, I was attacked by witches. Well, that’s actually a misnomer. Witches tried to attack me. The operative word there being tried. You can hear my testimony here, but suffice it to say, as the witchcraft against me was heightened, the methods of the attacks were heightened as well. There were some young people I was witnessing to at the time (which was how I got on the witches’ radar in the first place), and well into the warfare, I was made aware that the witches were astral projecting against me and the other young people.

Again, that is a misnomer. While the witches were most certainly astral projecting against the aforementioned young people and terrifying them, they were trying and FAILING to astral project against me. While the other young people were being demonically surveilled and creeped out, I was protected. God is gracious! Honestly, I only knew because the main witch told one of the kids I was in contact with. There was no mischief in my home or on my property. There was no molestation of my person. There was no evidence whatsoever of a hex or other spell that was being performed against me.

I WAS PROTECTED.

And those witches were vexed that they couldn’t hex me!! #WontHeDoIt

Later in the situation, after the head witch had been cast into a sickbed according to Revelation 2:21-22, the witch couldn’t take a hint and while he was physically unable himself, he sent five other witches like him on a journey, to Mooresville, NC - just North of Charlotte - to encircle my home, and pray against me. I’d already discerned that they were trying to kill me, so I knew this was one of their last efforts to attempt that. But when I learned about the astral projecting, I didn’t know what form they would try to come in.

Now, I’m not going to lie to you and say I wasn’t shook. I WAS. They were planning to come on the 4th of July and in that neighborhood, the streets were full of neighbors and visitors having block parties, walking to see fireworks, and so forth. Needless to say, not a good time to try to spot witches wandering the neighborhood! But again, when I learned they were astral projecting, it seemed that would be the likely method of molestation. (After all, police can’t arrest you if they can’t see you.) Long story short, IT DIDN’T WORK.

Oh, I’m sure they came to the state. I’m sure they came to the city. Heck, it wouldn’t surprise me if they even made it into the neighborhood. But however close they came, I had no knowledge of it.

I left ALL my lights on, all the curtains closed (don’t judge me!), and was praying and talking with and older intercessor the entire night! I’m so grateful God sent her to me! I’d already prayed over my home/property and anointed the house with oil multiple times throughout the situation. I don’t know how close they came. All I know is that whatever they tried, IT DIDN’T WORK. There was a bloodline drawn, an angelic hedge of protection raised, and they couldn’t cross it!

They tried different methods after this, but they were no longer methods to kill me, but rather to convince me to come over to their side. Which also did not work, OBVIOUSLY. They literally wanted to set me up as a Jezebel, a false teacher who calls herself a prophetess (because I would have been outside the will and calling of God at that point), and I believe their goal was to raise me up as a prominent voice in and advocate for the LGBQT community. And this aligns perfectly with the mission of Jezebel which is to:

  1. To teach God’s people to commit sexual immorality and

  2. To teach God’s people to commit idolatry.

This is made clear in Revelation 2:20. But anyhoo...IT DIDN’T WORK.

What Kind of Christian??

Now, if y’all think I’m crazy (and you well may, that’s your right!), both John Ramirez, a former Santeria high priest and Satanist, as well as Earthquake Kelley, a former Voodoo prodigy and practitioner, both testify that in their days of black witchcraft, they both tried to astral project against Believers and every time they did, the Lord would not allow them to touch His people. Now, I want to take a moment to speak about this briefly.

When I was standing in faith against the evil decrees of the witches, I was steadfast and all flesh aside, spoke in faith that the witchcraft WOULD NOT work against me. But the witch said, “We’ve killed Christians before! She’s confident! That’s a sign that we’re winning.” Well, let me tell you something: I don’t know what kind of Christians they came against before, but it wasn’t me! I don’t say that in arrogance; my boast is in the Lord. HE sustains me. HE empowers me. HE protects me. So yes, these witches can take out Christians who don’t actually have a personal relationship with God. Who don’t pray, have faith, have/use discernment, are ignorant of the wiles and devices of the enemy...the devil can take out those kinds of Believers. But you can’t take out someone who is truly in Christ...unless they open the door to the enemy!

No Cause, No Curse

Solomon said the curse without a cause does not alight (Prov. 26:2). Apostle Ivory Hopkins said that, “Witchcraft can only come to you if it comes through you.” Jesus said, “the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me,” (John 14:30).

Now, hear me: this is NOT an encouragement to invite a spirit of fear into your life. Fear IS a spirit and it IS evil and it DOES want to torment you! It can also open up doors, demonic portals, in the spirit. But if you have a legitimate, legal spiritual cause in the spirit that can or does allow witchcraft curses to affect you, then all you need to do is repent, renounce the sin, and if there is an “accursed thing” in your house, GET IT OUT. It’s as simple as that.

Now, let’s get a little more specific about astral projection.

What Is Astral Projection?

You may know or have inferred what astral projection or soul travel is by this point, but to be absolutely sure, I want to show you what Wicca.com says about it:

The term Astral Projection refers to a process in which the spirit leaves the body for a period of time. When the spirit returns to the body, you awaken and can recall your out-of-body sojourn.

The website also goes on to list three types of astral projection:

  1. Meditative

  2. Spontaneous

  3. Unconscious

Allow me to next define the term astral plane, a phrase you’ll understandably hear a lot in connection to astral projection because this is the plane or realm in which those who practice it believe it is done on. The Cambridge Dictionary defines the astral plane as:

a place believed by some people to be where a person's spirit goes between dying and entering the spirit world.

Encyclopedia.com gives us a much fuller definition of the phrase.

In occult cosmology, the astral plane is one of several (most often, seven or twelve) planes of existence, along with physical, etheric, causal, and mental. Although humans function within all these dimensions at once, they are usually only conscious of the physical plane. The astral plane is the level beyond the physical, the realm of dreams, spirits, and psychic phenomena, the substance and vehicle for contact between the material and the mystical. Within the astral plane, there are believed to be numerous densities and vibrations, commonly divided into lower, middle, and higher planes, each associated with a distinctive sound and color. After death, people are thought to shed their physical bodies and exist in the astral plane in astral bodies resembling their previous physical ones; from there, they may ascend to a higher plane of existence and/or be reincarnated in a different physical form.

The definition may be a bit much for the average reader and I do not endorse all of the things stated in it; however, that is what the astral plane is believed to be. But here is the Collins Dictionary simplistic explanation.

a plane of existence inhabited by astral bodies.

So in a nutshell, the astral plane is the location in which disembodied spirits move about. Now mind you, the word demon in Greek literally means “disembodied spirit.” I can assure you that you will encounter both human and devilish disembodied spirits there! The connection here is the soul. Although there are most certainly interactions with spirits in this place, soul travel is NOT spirit travel. It’s done by psychic, soul-fueled and demonic power; not the power of God. This is the primary difference between the two types of out-of-body travel. It’s also the distinction between God’s power and other supernatural powers. If you are operating by your own will - the soul being the seat of your mind, WILL, and emotions - then you are operating outside of God’s will. And soon, you will be operating in flat out witchcraft. Godly prayer requires us to pray that the Father’s will be done and manifested on earth as it is in Heaven, NOT our will (Matt. 6:10).

Visiting Yggdrasil

A few years back, a young man got in contact with me over social media. He was drawn to and recognized my “aura” and my spiritual knowledge.

Now let me say right here: If you do not remain humble before God, pride will be your downfall! The enemy knows how to puff your head up so he can either sway you or deflate you, preferably publicly. This young man was sincere, but he was sincere about his pursuit of KNOWLEDGE, not the pursuit of GOD. And this is exactly what the apostle Paul warned us about in his second epistle to Timothy stating that there would be those who are always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of truth (II Tim. 3:7). Eventually, I had to stop conversing with him.

This young man was a practicing Norse Druid; he practiced the Celtic-Druid religion combined with the Viking (Germanic) religion which is similar. He was raised by Christian parents and attended a Christian church from a legitimate and prominent Christian denomination, but he was propelled into rebellion and found himself practicing the sin of witchcraft in many different ways. But his journey into astral projection was most interesting.

He’d gone to a particular bookstore and found a book. (Many bookstores CAN be a hub for the New Age and other witchy/Occultic practices.) I don’t recall the name and wouldn’t list it if I did! But the book gave him a spell to astral project to Yggdrasil which is the Tree of Life in the Norse religion. So he followed the spell, and was astral projected to what he presumed to be Yggdrasil. There were SEVERAL other people there, a few of which he met. And the two or three people he met on the so-called astral plane at Yggdrasil, he met in real life! They’d all read the same book, recited the same spell, and found themselves astral projected to this faux Tree of Life! Crazy, right! But it happened!

The Witchy Prophet

Just last week, I was listening to Apostle Jonathan Ferguson’s Facebook Live and in it, he shared that recently, a (false) prophet from Africa astral projected into his home!!! Now, this man believed he was seeing in the realm of the Spirit, led by the Spirit of God, but he was actually dabbling in witchcraft. The Lord showed Apostle Ferguson the prophet, he stepped into the spirit realm himself and looked at the prophet, he was scared, and projected his tail back home! Apostle said if the man comes back, he’ll cut his cord! Which brings me to my next point…

How Does One Astral Project? (Soul Travel vs. Spirit Travel)

Now, what I am NOT going to do is give you a spell, an incantation, or a how-to on astral projecting!! (Obviously!!!) No #ChristianWitches here.

Remember: the three types of astral projection mentioned above are 1) meditative, 2) spontaneous, and 3) unconscious. And if you’re familiar with me, my books, or this blog, then you know that I frequently teach that all spiritual laws are neutral. This means that whatever works for the Kingdom of Darkness is just a hijacked version of what was already working for much longer in the Kingdom of Light. Never forget that the Egyptian magicians, Jannes and Jambres, were able to copy Moses up until a certain point. They were powerful, but God is ALL powerful! So let’s break it down.

Meditative Travel

I was the crazy child who was reading Rebecca Brown’s book, He Came to Set the Captives Free, at 10 years old which I DO NOT recommend AT ALL!! In fact, I don’t recommend the book at all for reasons I will not go into in this post. However, in that book, she references the story of the actress, Shirley MacLaine, which was put on the silver screen. In it, there’s a conversation between the actress and a friend of hers. They’re talking about astral projection and begin to put it to practice. They’re in a hot tub and there’s a candle nearby. So they stare into the candle until their soul leaves their bodies. Other witches may have other methods, but the key here is meditation. NON-BIBLICAL meditation.

Pagan meditation deals with blanking out your mind, whilst biblical meditation deals with filling your mind with the Word.

And in case those of you are wondering if I really mean the Shirley MacLaine you’re thinking of, I AM. You know, the red-headed lady who plays the American grandma of the Crawley girls in Downton Abbey? That one. Former New Age witch and now apostle Robin Harfouche shares all about it because it intersects with her own testimony, From Hollywood to Heaven.

So Shirley MacLaine demonstrates a pagan version of a meditative out-of-body experience. Now, allow me to reference Apostle Ferguson again for a biblical example. In his most recent Facebook Live, he shared about one of his first times having an out-of-body experience. He was reading his Bible and praying, when the glory of God fell on him and it was SO heavy! He was leaning forward and kept trying to lift himself up and finally he did! Except when he did raise himself up, he could look down and see the back of his head! So technically, this was a half-out-of-body experience lol.

To be clear, Apostle was not praying for an out-of-body experience. He wasn’t praying to go to Heaven or to be taken up in the Spirit. He was simply in the spirit while meditating on the things of the Spirit when GOD initiated the experience. This is imperative to our understanding the difference between soul travel and spirit travel.

Spontaneous Travel

Now, for spontaneous travel, I’d like to share with you a story from a historical fiction novel I once read. It’s a book on the Arthurian legend and this section was telling the story of Arthur’s mother, Igraine. In this scene, she was spinning like Rumpelstiltskin at her spindle; a mindless activity. While doing this, she was taken up out of her body and was traveling through the air to behold a sneak attack her husband was launching against the man who wanted to be her husband: Uther Pendragon, the soon-to-be father of Arthur Pendragon (King Arthur). She was able to deliver a message of warning, and was taken back to her body.

Now, obviously this is a story and there is no proof that this actually happened. But the Britons were a deeply pagan people at the time of Arthur’s life. The pagan Celts populated the land, the pagan Romans had just abandoned the land, and the pagan Saxons were less than a lifetime from swooping down on the land. The name of Jesus Christ had made its way to the British Isles, but it had not truly rooted itself in the land yet. The Celtic Druids were the real deal, so even if this particular story didn’t happen, I can assure you they were the match of any Voodoo/Santeria priest, Obeah shaman, or Native American medicine man, and spontaneous astral projection would have been no problem for them. And just for good measure, know that Wicca is derived from the Druid religion.

Now on the other hand, we have a biblical example of spontaneous travel. And honestly, just off the top of my head, I would guestimate that most of the spirit-travel events recorded in Scripture were spontaneous. Again, these people were not seeking experiences, they were simply seeking God’s face. The experience came with the seek. Here are some of those experiences.

And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house with the elders of Judah sitting before me, that the hand of the Lord God fell upon me there. Then I looked, and there was a likeness, like the appearance of fire—from the appearance of His waist and downward, fire; and from His waist and upward, like the appearance of brightness, like the color of amber. He stretched out the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my hair; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven, and brought me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the north gate of the inner court, where the seat of the image of jealousy was, which provokes to jealousy. (Ezekiel 8:1-3)

After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this. Immediately I was in the Spirit...” (Revelation 4:1-2)

Now, the case of John the Revelator is interesting because Chapters 1-3, he was having a vision, watching things happen inside the realm of the spirit while he remained in the natural realm. But in Chapter 4, the Spirit of the Lord called him up, and IMMEDIATELY, he was caught up to the third and highest Heaven. John went from WATCHING the vision to STEPPING INTO it.

It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord: I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows—such a one was caught up to the third heaven. And I know such a man—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows—how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. Of such a one I will boast; yet of myself I will not boast, except in my infirmities. For though I might desire to boast, I will not be a fool; for I will speak the truth. But I refrain, lest anyone should think of me above what he sees me to be or hears from me. (II Corinthians 12:1-6)

These three men of God were all spontaneously caught up into the Spirit realm and beheld the things God wanted to show them. THAT is spirit travel!

Unconscious Travel

Now, when you think of unconscious out-of-body experiences, you probably think of experiences that take place while you are asleep. And that is 100% true. However, I also want to throw trances into this category. Your natural man may be out of it, but your soulish or spirit man is alert. Trances can happen in the pagan supernatural as well as the godly supernatural. But for the sake of simplicity, I’ll use examples of out-of-body experiences that happen while you’re asleep.

I also want to clarify that I lump out-of-body experiences, trances, and being in the spirit realm together as various types of visions, just for the sake of generalisation.

Sleep Paralysis?

Likely, you have heard of someone’s out-of-body experience initiated while they were asleep. Scientists will identify this phenomenon as sleep paralysis...and they would be wrong. What they are describing is another wholly demonic phenomenon where a demon which in ages past is called a “hag” will sit on your body, your chest for instance, and you are very literally paralyzed; you can’t move. In most cases I’ve heard, you can’t even speak. But those who were able to merely THINK the name of Jesus were delivered. THAT is sleep paralysis. However, an out-of-of-body experience while asleep is is actually a type of vision of the night. [Visions can happen day or night (Job 33:15-18).]

In Acts 16, we see an interesting situation take place.

And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them. (Acts 16:9-10)

Now, the author of Acts, Luke, clearly stated that this was a vision (of the night). However, I believe that it’s possible that this was an instance of God taking another human being’s spirit and using it to deliver a message to Paul. Whatever it was, we know it was supernatural because a door in the spirit was opened for Paul and his apostolic company to minister in Macedonia.

The late John Paul Jackson told an amazing story of spirit travel, properly called translation. He was on a ministry trip to Israel with his wife and a group of people. While asleep in bed beside his wife, the Spirit of the Lord caught him up and not only up, but back! What do I mean? John Paul was caught UP into the spirit realm and taken BACK into the past! So while he was travelling in the spirit realm and through time, he wasn’t travelling geographically; the Lord took him to the city streets of Israel during the kingship of Saul!

God placed John Paul there as the prophet he was to proclaim David as king. And as if that weren’t mind-blowing enough, David himself came walking down the ancient street and recognized John Paul! This would have to have been after Samuel’s anointing of David, but before his elevation. So David knew the Word of the Lord over his life, and even if he was curious about this bearded Texan from the future, he would have known that what he said was 100% true. Likely, God gave David a word of knowledge about John Paul, perhaps as was the case with Ananias and Saul of Tarsus in Acts 9. So when John Paul completed his assignment for the night, the Lord zapped him back into his body, and his wife woke up and said, “John Paul, do you feel the presence of the Lord here?” LOL And here’s the real kicker! The next day, the tour guide took them to the very spot where the Spirit of the Lord had taken him to proclaim David as king the night before! LOOK. AT. GOD!!!

If you want to read more examples of out-of-Body Experiences, just read the entire Book of Ezekiel.

I would also like to point out that throughout Scripture, you’ll encounter the phrase deep sleep often. Adam, Abraham, Daniel, and others were put into a deep sleep and this deep sleep is a God-induced sleep; I would put being slain in the spirit into this category, although I can personally attest that everyone who is slain is not asleep. But know for sure, that when God puts you into a deep sleep, He is working! This is when many vision-like activities take place. It should also be noted that this phenomenon of deep sleep is not restricted to nighttime. God can put someone in a deep sleep any hour of the day.

The Silver Cord

Now, you all heard me mention earlier that Apostle Ferguson said if that (false) prophet astral projects into his house again that he would “cut his cord.” But what cord is he talking about? Glad you asked. *smile*

The cord Apostle is referring to is the silver cord Solomon mentioned in the Book of Ecclesiastes.

Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed, Or the golden bowl is broken, Or the pitcher shattered at the fountain, Or the wheel broken at the well. (Ecclesiastes 12:6)

Now, I am not going to sit here and pretend like I know what each of these four items is. I’ve heard of the [silver] wheel being mentioned in Celtic-Druidic lore, and my guestimation is that the fountain where the aforementioned pitcher is found is some sort of fountain of life, but again, that’s just a guess. I am completely ignorant on the golden bowl although I WILL say that throughout Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, we find a frequent mention of God collecting certain things [directly or indirectly] in bowls or vials depending on your translation. What things? Iniquity (Gen. 15:16), tears (Psa. 68:8), prayers and alms (Acts 10:1-4), and judgments mentioned in the Book of Revelation. So my guess would be this bowl contains the contents of our lives respectively. But this is where I hand things over to Apostle Ferguson, Perry Stone, or the like for understanding! I’m just not there yet! But I know about this cord!

Man is indeed made in the image of God; just as He is a tri-part being, so are we: body, soul, and spirit. The silver cord is what connects or binds each of these three together, and specifically, what allows the soul (or spirit) to leave the body without dying. When the cord is cut - just like we saw in Disney’s Hercules movie - the life signified by the cord is ended. It’s literally a lifeline!

So when a person exits their body through astral projection which is 100% ILLEGAL in the spirit realm, then they run the risk of having their cord cut. Now, all witchcraft and Occultic practices are evil, yet this is an extreme warning to those who would use this craft for intentionally demonic means. For demonic surveillance, for casting spells and incantations, for molestations and harassments of various sorts, and like those witches I told you about - for trying to and literally killing people...these are all HIGHLY dangerous.

None of us knows when God’s grace will run out. I can’t speak for how many warnings He’s given you or someone else, but if you are trying to stretch out your astral-projected hand and touch the Lord’s anointed, to destroy what God is raising up, you are very literally risking your own life. God would that NONE perish and that ALL come to the knowledge and love of Him; however, if He has to choose between preserving the life of His child and ridding the world of someone who is molesting His anointed and very literally killing off innocent people, guess which one He’s going to do?! That should put the fear of God into you!

A Word of Warning

In a recent Facebook Live, Apostles Jonathan Ferguson and Johnathan Stidham were teaching and sharing and Apostle Stidham said something so poignant that I must repeat it here. He said that he was in a vision where the Lord was speaking and showing him things, when the Lord stopped him and asked, “Do you love me more than you love to see?” To Apostle Stidham, the question seemed ridiculous...just like I’m sure Peter did when Jesus asked him three times in a row, “Do you love me?” While God was speaking, Apostle Stidham saw a Sasquatch-looking figure walk through the background in the vision. He said, “God, what is that?!” And the Lord answered him saying, “That is the spirit that seeks those who love to see more than they love Me.” It was the spirit of divination.

Beloved, we have to be SO careful to make sure that we seek God above all else. Not His hand, not what He can do, not what He can give, but His FACE; intimacy. This is a biblical rule:

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Matthew 6:33)

If you seek FIRST God and His Kingdom, THEN all of these other things...THEN whatever supernatural experience He deems necessary and helpful to you will be given to you. People who seek supernatural experiences are mystics. They are unbalanced, and do not have enough of the Word in them and thus, are in no position to judge the spirits to see if they be of God (I John 4:1-6). And if you cannot judge spirits, then you also cannot judge spiritual experiences. It places one in a dangerous position. Doorways and portals in the spirit can be opened that have untold negative implications and take great deliverance to close. For more on “Christian mysticism,” check out my book, The Days of Noah and Lot.

Freedom Is Available!

I have good news: There is repentance for ANYONE who has participated in witchcraft or mysticism on ANY level. His blood is strong enough and His grace is deep enough and yes, His arm is long enough. All you have to do is repent in truth and renounce your witchy ways! The Cross of Christ is the great equalizer. No matter how great or small our sins may seem to us, no human being can pass through it without repentance AND the acceptance of His forgiveness. (Because what good is repentance if you don’t also accept the forgiveness that comes with it?)
