Can You Really Sell Your Soul and Is There a Way Out?

Can You Really Sell Your Soul and Is There a Way Out?

Can you really sell your soul to Satan? The short answer? Yes. You can. Happens all the time, time without mind.

Whoa there, Desiree.

That doesn’t sound scriptural.

That’s just crazy talk.

Bible-thumpers and prophetic types are sooooo weird!

Yada, yada, yada, blah.

If you’ve been following this blog long enough, then you know I will never ever present you with a stance that is not backed by the Bible. So let’s turn there.

Take It to the Word

Jesus said:

For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? (Matthew 16:26)

Jesus would not pose a question like this if the possibility of gaining the world in exchange for one’s soul was not a very real possibility. Which brings me to the scriptural precedent of selling one’s soul to the devil.

And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,  Being forty days tempted of the devil…. And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. (Luke 4:1-2, 5-8 KJV)

Here we have the biblical account of Satan trying to get Jesus to sell His soul. The imagery here is that for His second temptation, Satan takes Jesus into (not onto) a high mountain.

Now, mountains in Scripture often represent kingdoms as in this particular passage (Daniel 2:35, 45; Isaiah, 66:20) So when Satan took Jesus into a high mountain, he was showing Him the kingdoms of the world “in a moment.” I don’t know what this looked like. I can’t even begin to put it into words. However, even though The Bible Series does not accurately reflect this particular scene, it does accurately depict the intent of the offer Satan made Jesus. You can watch it below.

He offers Him the position of Emperor of the Roman Empire which, at the time, would have been the world so to speak. Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the King of Glory. So here’s the thing to note: Satan was offering Jesus something He was already purposed and destined to receive. The difference was the method in receiving it. Had Jesus fallen to the lusts of this world, and said, “My will, not Thy will be done” to His Father in Heaven, then I have no doubt that Satan would have given over the throne of Tiberius Ceasar to Jesus for the “small price” of His homage to the Prince of the Power of the Air and god of this world. BUT, like the Herods, Jesus would have been a puppet king. And if Satan could give Jesus a throne, then he could certainly take it from Him.

This is the basis of all contracts with Satan, formal or otherwise. “Bow down” and worship him and he’ll give you what you want--and so much more you don’t. And when he’s had his fun amusing himself with you, he’ll take it right back and, bar the grace of God, drag you down to a devil’s Hell for all eternity with him.

Okay, so fine. You proved that it was in Scripture. But that doesn’t mean it still happens today. People don’t actually get approached by Satan or his imps to sell their souls to him.

Don’t they?

Saved by the Spirit

We “mere mortals” may not readily believe in the possibility of selling your soul to the devil, but just talk to those in the music industry. Talk to those in the arena of stardom. You may remember an older post I wrote entitled, “Promotion: Satan’s ‘Blessing.’” In it, I discuss the ability of Satan to “bless” and promote people. But don’t get it twisted: he’s not doing this for your benefit or because he “just likes to bless people.” Not in the least. He does it to sway people’s hearts away from God and His plan for their lives. Satan wants to blind you to the Truth of God and His Word with his shiny toys. But all that glitters sure as heck ain’t gold.

One such individual who experienced this opportunity for “promotion” is a Christian rapper named “Minista.” When he was in the world, his rapper name was “Sinista” but after harrowing experiences wherein Satan and his imps were overpowering those around him proposing that he sell his soul to the devil, he was able to, instead, choose the better contract and give his life to Jesus. You can hear his story below.

Can you say praise God for the praying mothers?? Through the power of God (and the mistakes of the devil), God showed this young man that he could take the “S” in his rapper name, and change it to an “M,” thus dubbing him a true “Minista” of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God! Amen!!!

Getting What You Want...And a Whole Lot More You Don’t

In my Witchcraft & Deliverance Chronicles, Curtis “Earthquake” Kelley speaks very specifically about this demonic contract phenomenon. A spirit, in Voodoo and Obeah, called “Big Fish” is the one that makes the propositions to people.

So whatever the length of your contract with Satan, should you be foolish, arrogant, or ignorant enough to sign it, those same demons who propositioned you will come back for you when it’s expired. And I don’t believe Satan does contract renewals!

Gold-Plated Success

As we can tell from the constant social media updates, magazine articles, and gossip shows, many of these celebrities who have sold their souls--either formally or informally--while they may have earthly success, are also often simultaneously failures. Multiple failed marriages. Children who hate them. Children who are messed up. Family who is estranged from them. No privacy. The utterly inhuman pressure to be perfect despite the truth that that’s not possible. That’s why it’s not surprising, albeit terribly sad, when we hear of these people killing themselves, either intentionally or unintentionally.

Even many of these ministers who wind up dead in compromising positions, cause us to wonder if these were some of those who sold their souls and their contract was up. One has to wonder if they even actually intended to take their lives. And one has to wonder why they almost always seem to die in the same way: alone in a hotel or at home, dead by an illegal or prescription drug overdose. That’s no coincidence. These people live through Hell on earth, smiling through it, then suffer Hell for all eternity afterward unless they had a moment to truthfully repentance, like the thief on the cross, before their demise.

But there’s good news..!

The Blood of Jesus Breaks EVERY Demonic Contract!!!!

That’s right. Even if you wholeheartedly sold your soul to the devil, even if you engaged in demonic orgies, sacrificed babies, and raised your children and grandchildren to do the same--whatever you’ve done, no sin is too black for Jesus’ blood to wash it out! His “detergent” is the strongest known to man! And after He washes your sins white as snow, He then takes the remembrance of them and throws them into a sea, as the old preacher said, with a sign on it that declares: “No Fishing!” All you need do is repent and follow Jesus.

I heard Marcus Lamb of Daystar Television preaching at Rod Parsley’s Church on Good Friday and he said:

“The devil can’t cross the bloodline! And if he did, he’d be a saved devil and wouldn’t give us anymore trouble!”

Well, Satan and his angels may not be able to cross the bloodline, BUT YOU ARE! So if you’d like to repent of your contract with Satan, or if your family or another person has made a covenant promising you to a system of cultish or Occultic darkness (i.e. Illuminati, Satanism, Islam, Mormonism, witchcraft, New Age, Masonic lodges/secret societies, even fraternities and sororities, spiritual marriages, etc.), pray this prayer and mean it!

Father, in the Name of Jesus,

I come to You in sorrow over the things I’ve done. I believe that You came to earth, were born of a virgin, lived sinless, died for my sins, won power over death, Hell, and the grave, and rose again on the third day for me.

I repent of all of my sins. I renounce every contract I’ve made with Satan. I renounce every demonic covenant that I (and my children) am bound to. I renounce every demonic attachment in my life and ask you to remove them all in the name of Jesus. I renounce my allegiance to the Kingdom of Darkness and throw myself wholeheartedly into the Kingdom of Heaven! I ask that you remove every agent of darkness in my life and help me to become an agent of Your light in the world.

I believe that my name is now written in the Lamb’s Book of Life and that I will serve You all my days. I declare that YOUR will be done in my life, on earth, as it is in Heaven. I declare that walk in Your ways and that You help me to forgive all of those who have wronged me as You forgive me. And deliver me from all evil in the name of Jesus. I believe that Your blood is more powerful than any demonic covenant and every single mistake I have ever made and that it covers me, my home, and my car. I declare that You send Your angels to surround and watch over me and keep me in all my ways everywhere I go. Save me, I pray; I am Yours. In the name of Jesus, amen!

Victory in Jesus!

If you prayed that prayer, then you are FREE!!! Your past is over and your new life has begun! Now you have, not only the permission, but the God-given ability to walk in HIS purpose for your life and to live the abundant life that He has waiting for you. His blood covers you everywhere you go. And when that devil tries to come back to you and sway you--and he will!--remember this:

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)

Follow Jesus’ lead and throw the Word at him!

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

And don’t forget your armor!

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints… (Ephesians 6:14-18)

And if you feel like your backside is exposed…

For the Lord will go before you, And the God of Israel will be your rear guard. (Isaiah 52:12)

And finally, if you need a prayer and declaration of protection, recite Psalm 91 aloud, making yourself the subject of the prayer. “Because I dwell in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty…”

Be encouraged! God is with you!

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. (I John 4:4)

*************** UPDATE ***************

When I wrote this post last year, I had no idea that it would be the #1 post on my site for the majority of 2016. I also had no idea the sheer amount of comments and inbox messages from dear people crying out for help because of it. God is good and I’m happy to be a channel of His salvation, deliverance, mercy, and grace.

Yet something interesting has happened. This year, not one, but two individuals, one (South Asian) Indian and one African (not sure from what country) have reached out to me regarding their encounters with a certain demon named “Behemoth.” The first believed he had sold his soul to it, and the second was concerned that it could not be cast out of others who were possessed by it. Both presented the image if not the title of it being and demonic prince and well I can believe it! Scripture mentions Behemoth once in conjunction with Leviathan in the Book of Job saying:

“Look now at the behemoth, which I made along with you;
He eats grass like an ox.
See now, his strength is in his hips,
And his power is in his stomach muscles.
He moves his tail like a cedar;
The sinews of his thighs are tightly knit.
His bones are like beams of bronze,
His ribs like bars of iron.
He is the first of the ways of God;
Only He who made him can bring near His sword.
Surely the mountains yield food for him,
And all the beasts of the field play there.
He lies under the lotus trees,
In a covert of reeds and marsh.
The lotus trees cover him with their shade;
The willows by the brook surround him.
Indeed the river may rage,
Yet he is not disturbed;
He is confident, though the Jordan gushes into his mouth,
Though he takes it in his eyes,
Or one pierces his nose with a snare.
(Job 40:15-24)

Scripturally, Behemoth is the land equivalent in stature and strength as Leviathan. Most of you at least have an idea of what Leviathan represents and if you don’t (or even if you just want a refresher), listen to this powerful teaching by Pastor Ron Phillips. Leviathan is called the “king over all the sons of pride” (Job 41:34 ESV). These descriptions of this spirit, Behemoth, seem to reflect that.

Now the truly key fact about this spirit that stood out to me which both gentlemen shared was that the people demonized by this spirit became so through listen to a popular heavy metal song.

The very nature of songs is extremely similar to the nature of chants (spells) and indeed some songs are chants or spiritual petitions - good and bad alike. And as there is no other creation like music on the face of this planet, it can enter into one’s spirit and soul in a way that nothing else can. Music creates and shifts atmospheres. This is why we have praise and worship before sermons, why we often have music played during congregational intercession, and why we have use soaking music.

This is also why you can’t play certain songs when you’re by yourself on Friday night. But I’ll sip my tea and leave that one alone. #KermitMoment

While discussing all of this with some friends at home the other night, my best friend and roommate told a story about a preacher who was ministering deliverance to a particular man. All of the other demons possessing the man had been expelled, but then came the doorkeeper. And he wasn’t goin’ NOWHERE. The man’s whole body language changed; straightened up and crossed his arms across his chest like a Pharaoh. He didn’t hiss, scream, yell, cry, curse, or shout. He simply said, “I’m not coming out.”

The minister bound that devil and tried to cast him out according to Matthew 16:19 and 18:18. But he simply said, “I’m not leaving.”

He yelled and used his Christ-endowed, Holy Ghost authority according to Luke 9:1, Luke 10:19, and Mark 16:17. But he simply said, “I’m not leaving.”

That poor man did everything he knew to do in his deliverance experience, but that devil simply said, “I’m not leaving.”

And then the Holy Ghost spoke.

He said, “This spirit was played in; therefore, it must be played out.”

W O W .

Powerful!! And, of course, Scriptural!

While they didn’t have Youtube or iTunes back in the day, people were still possessed and they still knew the power of Holy Ghost music to drive out a devil. How do we know? David did it.

But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and a distressing spirit from the Lord troubled him. And Saul’s servants said to him, “Surely, a distressing spirit from God is troubling you. Let our master now command your servants, who are before you, to seek out a man who is a skillful player on the harp. And it shall be that he will play it with his hand when the distressing spirit from God is upon you, and you shall be well.”
….And so it was, whenever the spirit from God was upon Saul, that David would take a harp and play it with his hand. Then Saul would become refreshed and well, and the distressing spirit would depart from him. (I Samuel 16:14-16, 23)

This is why it is SO important to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, especially when casting out ungodly spirits. It’s not an algebraic equation. It’s discernment.

Also, notice in the example my friend mentioned, the minister cast out all the lesser spirits first, THEN the gatekeeper. That’s one method. Another method is the reverse: cast out the gatekeeper or ring leader, THEN the lesser demons. I believe Jesus did the latter with the man in the Gadarenes.

Then they sailed to the country of the Gadarenes, which is opposite Galilee. And when He stepped out on the land, there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons for a long time. And he wore no clothes, nor did he live in a house but in the tombs. When he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before Him, and with a loud voice said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me!” For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had often seized him, and he was kept under guard, bound with chains and shackles; and he broke the bonds and was driven by the demon into the wilderness.

Jesus asked him, saying, “What is your name?”

And he said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered him. (Luke 8:26-30)

Legion was one demon, a territorial spirit, who had thousands of demons under his power and consequently, residing in the tormented man. When Jesus addressed and expelled Legion, He didn’t even have to speak to the lesser demons; they just left of their own accord.

In my opinion, if the strongman gets expelled first, then it came in last. The lesser demons prepared the way for it. And if the strongmen gets expelled last, then it came in first and held the door open for the lesser spirits. But again, this is just my opinion. As I said before, be discerning. Every situation is unique. But back to Behemoth.

In my friend’s story, the minister put on some praise and or worship music. At first, the devil resisted. Then he yelled and screamed for the music to be turned off. And eventually, he was so weakened by the holy music, that the minister was able to cast him out. I wanted to share this with all of you.

If you have been tormented by this devil named Behemoth, and you played him in, then play him out! Here are some excellent songs, but of course, be led by God’s Spirit for your particular situation.

Don’t let these devils punk you with their lies and threats!! No matter what sin you’ve committed, no matter what pact you’ve made formally or informally, knowingly or unknowingly, voluntarily or involuntarily, the name of Jesus Christ is ALL powerful! He IS the strongest Strongman of all! You tell that devil where He can go! In the name of Jesus, AMEN!
