Socially Acceptable Psychic Witchcraft and How It Works
Two nights ago, I was sitting watching an episode of Bones. I’m aware of the show, but don’t think I’ve ever actually watched it before in all the years it’s been airing. It was time to eat some dinner and there was nothing new on my Hulu queue so I figured why the heck not? Some things we aren’t surprised at anymore. When living in such a world, it’s easy to become desensitized to certain things. But sometimes, we get so shocked we just have to scream! Even though no one’s there to listen. That is what happened when I watched Bones.
I came in a little late, but this particular episode centered around the death of one psychic being killed. One psychic, deemed a charlatan, was suspected to be involved and another psychic, deemed not a charlatan was helping the Bones team figure out the murder.
Here are some key scenes that display how psychics operate:
Scene One: The cops and psychic helping them, Avalon, goes through the victim’s apartment, touching objects, picking up pillows, FAMILIARizing herself the environment in which the deceased once lived. It is in this environment that she begins to get “messages” about the deceased psychic.
Scene Two: Avalon and two of the cops are at a restaurant meeting. One cop, a woman, believes in Avalon. The other, her significant other, does not. Avalon picks up on this (wasn’t too hard to do), then says something to the effect of,
“I don’t blame you for not believing. It must be so hard to have faith in anything after the family situation you’ve been through.” (An extremely vague message, but you can tell it piques his interest a bit.
“How did you know that?” he says to her.
“Your spirit guide or guardian angel, whatever you want to call it, just told me.”
*insert righteous indignation*
Scene Three: It’s the last scene of the show and Mr. and Mrs. Bones are at home with their daughter celebrating a dead comrade named Sweet’s birthday. The first since his death. Daddy Bones is chatting it up with his daughter who keeps referring to her imaginary friend, Buddy. He says, “I’ll tell you a story” to which the little girl replies, “I want to hear a romance!” He looks at her a tad oddly, but doesn’t think much of it. And then the doorbell rings and the female cop who believes in Avalon as well as Avalon herself appear.
They, prompted by a psychic message from Sweets, retrieve a thumb drive from his former car and on it is his birthday gift to his friends. (Apparently, he had a habit of giving out birthday gifts on his birthday each year.) The thumb drive contained the love story of Mr. and Mrs. Bones; a romance. The little girl chimes in something like, “I told you I wanted to hear a romance!” The party chatters for a bit more when the subject of the little girl’s imaginary friend comes up again.
“Imaginary friend?” sputters Avalon. “Okay, you can call him that if you want to.”
*insert my screams of righteous indignation here also*
Avalon insinuates that their dead friend Sweets is the little girl’s “imaginary friend” and everyone walks off for non-imaginary cake and ice cream and live happily ever after. At least until the next episode.
ARE.YOU.KIDDING.ME???
These parents were totally okay with their child having the “ghost” of their dead friend follow her around indefinitely??
ON WHAT PART OF GOD’S GREEN EARTH IS THIS ACCEPTABLE? OR NORMAL??
But alas, sadly, sickeningly, it is--for some, in their own, skewed minds.
Let’s take a moment and define a few points, shall we?
PSYCHICS
As a Christian, well aware of spiritual warfare and deceitful demonic tactics, we know that ALL psychics are charlatans. The only difference is some know it and others don’t.
This is how psychics operate:
People are open. People who are searching for knowledge relating to their (dead) loved ones, their future, etc. are open to the spirit world. They do not have a personal relationship with God, do not understand their Word, or do not believe the Word, and thus unknowingly turn their satellites, so to speak, from the Spirit of God to the spirits of darkness.
People come. These open individuals reach out to these psychics and their spirit is open to receive what they want to hear. They have itching ears.
Psychics play. The psychics commune with the spirit world, some thinking they’re communing with Jesus/God/Holy Spirit, and the familiar spirits a.k.a. familiars attached to the person who came to them feed information to the psychic who then presents it as a “prophecy,” “fortune,” or mediated message (by a medium) to the listener.
People pay. These people, either before or after the demonic message is delivered, fork over their money, great and small, to this witch for what they usually believe to be a true message.
People believe. The people believe in this false message and thus, bind themselves to the demonic system and soulish realm--not to God Almighty Who is Omniscient (all-knowing).
[In]famous psychic, Sylvia Browne, as seen countless times on the Montel Williams show over the years. I think it no coincidence that she died the same year her most famous "prophecy" was disproven. She was nationally discredited, thus, Satan no longer needed her.
In this post, we’ll use the blanket term “psychic” to describe this particular type of witch, but here are some other names for these readers:
Medium
Fortune Teller
Soothsayer
Palm Reader
Tea Leaf Reader
Tarot Card Reader
Telephathist
Astrologers (those who read the stars, not to be confused with astronomers who merely study the stars)
Oracle*
*Oracles is a general, spiritually neutral term. There are oracles (prophets) in the Bible who were godly [wo]men and heard from God, yet “oracle” is also a term found in other places in the Ancient World, most famously, in Greece as is told in many of the Greco-Roman mythologies and tales.
Basically, anyone who reads anything--some scarily enough even read the Holy Bible!--as a means to gain any kind of knowledge of a person, place, or thing through ungodly means. It doesn’t matter if they say they are working for God, Jesus, and or the Holy Ghost and please understand that many do make this claim! And for many of that portion, they actually believe it be true!
There are several more “readers” that are out there. I don’t know all of their names, so I’ll describe them by what they read:
Animal/Human entrails (popular in the Ancient world)
Pyramids (The leaders of the Jehovah’s Witness cult used Pyramidology, the study of the length of the chambers to determine the timing of earthly events)
Water, etc. puddles
Psalms and or Proverbs (there was a witch in the Miss Jane Pittman movie starring Cicely Tyson who was shown declaring a curse and she actually quoted David in the Psalms saying that the subject of her curse would be “beat as fine dust.”)
Belongings of people (like mentioned in Scene One; a perversion of true prophecy like that of Agabus in the Book of Acts.)
This is still an incomplete list of “readers.”
Again, I want to reiterate, any use of any object, tangible or intangible, to gain wisdom outside of the parameters set by the Word of God and through general study is a form of witchcraft. Any power that appears, any information that comes, is not from God, but from Satan. You are coming into agreement with deception and the enemies of God.
FAMILIARS & SPIRIT GUIDES
This is how psychic and related witchcraft operates. When you hear people say they speak with the dead, they are not speaking with their dearly departed, but rather, a familiar spirit impersonating these deceased human beings. The only record we have anywhere of a medium truthfully calling up the spirit of a dead man is the story of the Witch of En Dor and King Saul in the Bible. And you can tell it really was Samuel and things were not going according to the witch’s usual ritual because she flipped her wig when the real Samuel ascended from Abraham’s Bosom. (See I Samuel 28:3-25.) That was a one-time occurrence that God Himself allowed for His own purposes.
And note, Saul only sought out the medium to call up the Prophet Samuel because God had turned away from him due to the king’s constant arrogant rebellion which is as the sin of witchcraft itself (I Samuel 15:23). Saul opened himself up to the demonic-soulish realm through his disobedience.
That is how mediums and seances work. While “ghost” is a verifiable term according to the King James translation of Scripture (i.e. Abraham and Jesus “gave up the ghost” and died; Genesis 25:8, Mark 15:37), it is a term that refers to a spirit. And contrary to popular belief, ghosts--human spirits--do not haunt nor hunt people. Although, I admit, it is easy to think that they do if you get your terminologies mixed up. In reality, it is demonic spirits, not human beings, that haunt and play with people’s imaginations. The only Spirit that should be in you, in your house, following you everywhere you go, is the Holy Spirit, the third Member of the Trinity. There is no such thing as wraiths, the undead (vampires), zombies, (living) mummies, or anything of the sort. They’re all demons playing games with your mind. Now let’s take a moment to focus on the lie that Avalon told the uncertain cop.
Avalon claimed that it was the cop’s “spirit guide” or “guardian angel” who gave her the information to know what happened in his past. THIS IS A LIE; twisted truth at best. There are countless Scriptures in the Old and New Testament that describe angels watching over God’s people. I do indeed believe in guardian angels. But God’s angels, unfallen and holy in nature, do NOT work together with Lucifer’s fallen angels! They oppose them and fight them on our behalf at the will of God Almighty! Spirit guides are a very different story.
You could put it this way: if Christians and children under the age of accountability have God’s guardian angels watching over them, then non-Christians and even children in some ungodly living situations have Satan’s spirit guides watching over them. In my opinion, these spirit guides held the same rank and operated in the same capacity in heaven before they fell from glory. God’s angels watch over people to protect and guide them according to the Word of God (Psalm 91:11-12, 103:20-21), even those who are set to inherit salvation (Hebrews 1:13-14). Lucifer’s angels watch over those beyond the fold of God to keep them and guide them further into deception. And it is these familiar spirits that aid the witches and warlocks, psychics and mediums, witch doctors and medicine men, and brujas in their black arts of deception.

And in case you think all of this is false, please believe it isn’t. While the guise under which these spirit guides come to human beings and operate is under false pretenses, their existence is not. Apparently, in the Ancient World--even amongst the Jewish converts--it was believed that an angel, even a guardian angel, could take on the appearance of the person they guard.
So, when [Peter] had considered this, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together praying. And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a girl named Rhoda came to answer. When she recognized Peter’s voice, because of her gladness she did not open the gate, but ran in and announced that Peter stood before the gate. But they said to her, “You are beside yourself!” Yet she kept insisting that it was so. So they said, “It is his angel.” (Acts 12:12-15)
These saints, even the disciples themselves, holed up in John Mark’s house praying for Peter, believed that the guardian angel of a man or woman could appear in that form. And why should this be so difficult?
Abraham entertained the Son of God and two angels in human form. (Genesis 18:1-15)
Lot took in and hid these same two angels when they came to Sodom. (Genesis 19:1-29)
Manoah and his wife, Samson’s parents, entertained an angel in human form. (Judges 13)
Even Paul warned us to be careful how we interact with strangers because they could be angels in disguise. (Hebrews 13:2)
And as Scripture further tells us, these angels, in their original form, are ministers of flame, light (Psalm 104:4); thus, it is, “no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.” (II Corinthians 11:14-15). This is precisely what these spirit guides are. I like to think of them as a type of shape-shifters.

Familiars are often referred to as animals or even inanimate objects. They are not the animals or object themselves, but they either possess the animal, etc. or cause the person they are deceiving to believe the animal is the familiar itself.
Example 1: I met a woman on Facebook in one of my Celtic groups who is a solitary witch. She kindly explained to me that her familiar is a little owl that visits her. (While owls are certainly creations of God, they are very often grouped together with the Occult and Scripturally, are identified as unclean/abominable and associated with accursed places. See Leviticus 11:13-19; Deuteronomy 14:11-17; Isaiah 13:19-22, 34:8-12.)
Example 2: In Supernatural Forces in Spiritual Warfare: Wrestling with Dark Angels by Apostle C. Peter Wagner, one of the contributing authors recounts the story of a missionary. The missionary was introduced to a local woman who was feared by all. When the missionary came to her home to share Christ with her, she realised that there was a large snake, large enough to be wrapped around the whole living room, that lived in the house with the witch and her unfortunate husband. The husband told the missionary, “If you can get my wife to get rid of that snake, I’ll accept your Jesus.” The snake was the witch’s familiar which told her things about the locals. Once she’d given it up and her husband chopped it up and threw it in the river, the missionary asked if the woman had any other similar items in the house. After some hesitation, she told her of a box she kept and marked as precious. In it, was the molded over body of a dead baby which also served the witch as a familiar which was said to speak to the woman. The witch was able to let it go, her husband buried the baby, the woman renounced her witchcrafts, and both of them accepted Christ.
Example 3: In Possessing the Gates of the Enemy by Cindy Jacobs, “Mama Cindy” recounts the story of a young woman who’d just lost her fiancé. Yet it was found that the young woman believed her fiancé had come back to visit her. She said it comforted her, but it was a deception. Mama Cindy prayed with the young woman and God was able to reveal to her the true, disgusting nature of the spirit impersonating her fiancé. She was delivered and set free.
Example 4: Also in Possessing, Cindy Jacobs recounts, probably one of the most harrowing deceptions of this type that I’ve heard. Another young woman, a new believer, divulged that she had been privy to a special “bridal chamber” experience with Christ. This woman was very literally having sex with a spirit impersonating the resurrected Son of God and she knew far too little of her Word and God Himself to be able to combat the deception. Through prayer, this spirit was also revealed to the young woman and she was delivered and set free from her deception. We are indeed the Bride of Christ, His beloved. But Jesus Christ, nor any heavenly spirit, nor God Himself have deigned to come down as the Greek gods (principalities) of old or the false Elohim in Mormonism to have sex with mortals. That is the work of an incubus (a demon in male form that sexually deceives, molests, and attacks women and even some men) and their female-like counterpart, the succubus. The singer, Ke$ha, has even given testimony of having sexual experiences with a ghost. She may have been drunk or high during this experience (who knows?), but I also believe she was also telling the truth. This is known as spectrophilia.
Familiar spirits are VERY REAL. Whether they come in the form of owls or snakes, dead loved ones or even the Son of God Himself, they are all liars and the truth ain’t in ‘em! It doesn’t matter if they give you information, “wisdom,” or a climax, they’re fallen fiends sent straight from Hell. And if you still have doubts about spectrophilia being bad, just remember: the only angels recorded in Scripture to have sex with human beings were fallen angels and the offspring they produced were man-hating, man-killing monstrosities like in the Greco-Roman mythologies of old (Genesis 6:1-4). Familiar spirits of any kind are nothing to play with.
SPIRIT WORLD VS. SOULISH WORLD
This phrasing “Spirit world vs. Soulish world” may seem like an odd comparison. Allow me to explain. While the spirit world could be either godly or ungodly depending on which spirits you are dealing with, what I am trying to do here is draw a comparison between dealing with God, His Spirit, and His spirits in the godly spiritual realm which dwell in the third, highest heaven and the soulish realm of the second heaven where Satan is allowed to play at being the temporary lord and “Prince of the Power of the Air.”
All divine wisdom comes from God and the third heaven. This is the place from which the prophets, oracles and seers, psalmists and scribes alike, prophesy.
Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. (I Samuel 10:6)
“Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart, ‘Hear the word of the Lord!’” (Ezekiel 13:2)
Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.”’” (Ezekiel 37:4-6)
“And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.” (Joel 2:28-29)
Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. A lion has roared! Who will not fear? The Lord God has spoken! Who can but prophesy? (Amos 3:7-8)
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us,let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith… (Romans 12:6)
For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. (Revelation 19:10)
All other otherworldly wisdom comes from Satan’s heaven, the second heaven. This is the place from which all false prophets, witches, warlocks, and pagan practitioners--unless arrested by God Almighty as was the case with Balaam--prophesy from. The wind of God (ruach) is not in or on what they speak. They speak either 1) lies or 2) truth not derived from familiars for their own greedy/false purposes.
And the Lord said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart.” (Jeremiah 14:14)
Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They make you worthless; They speak a vision of their own heart, Not from the mouth of the Lord…. “I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy lies in My name, saying, ‘I have dreamed, I have dreamed!’ How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies? Indeed they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart, who try to make My people forget My name by their dreams which everyone tells his neighbor, as their fathers forgot My name for Baal.” (Jeremiah 23:16, 25-27)
Behold, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,” says the Lord, “and tell them, and cause My people to err by their lies and by their recklessness. Yet I did not send them or command them; therefore they shall not profit this people at all,” says the Lord. (Jeremiah 23:32)
For they prophesy falsely to you in My name; I have not sent them, says the Lord. (Jeremiah 29:9)
“Likewise, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own heart; prophesy against them, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Woe to the women who sew magic charms on their sleeves and make veils for the heads of people of every height to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of My people, and keep yourselves alive?” ... ‘Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against your magic charms by which you hunt souls there like birds. I will tear them from your arms, and let the souls go, the souls you hunt like birds. I will also tear off your veils and deliver My people out of your hand, and they shall no longer be as prey in your hand. Then you shall know that I am the Lord. Because with lies you have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and you have strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that he does not turn from his wicked way to save his life. Therefore you shall no longer envision futility nor practice divination; for I will deliver My people out of your hand, and you shall know that I am the Lord.”’” (Ezekiel 13:17-18, 20-23)
If a man should walk in a false spirit and speak a lie, saying, ‘I will prophesy to you of wine and drink,’ Even he would be the prattler of this people. (Micah 2:11)
Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. (Matthew 24:11)
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. (I John 4:1-3)

Essentially, every psychic, medium, tea leaf reader, pagan oracle, and even many such “Christians” as “Prophet” Bernard Jordan and his protege-son, “Prophet” Manasseh Jordan, are false prophets. Knowingly or unknowingly swindling people, taking their money, prophesying “soothing” words to itching ears, and binding these people, not to God, but to Satan.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. (II Timothy 4:3-4)
They are soothsayers, one and all, and unless removed from the blindness of the god of this world and the scales, by the grace of God, are fallen from their eyes and they repent, they will suffer a horrid end just as Balaam did.
The children of Israel also killed with the sword Balaam the son of Beor, the soothsayer, among those who were killed by them. (Joshua 13:22)
This is the generation we are living in. This generation with their itching ears is ever seeking a sign. But they don’t have the desire, the discipline, or the wisdom to seek true supernatural, otherworldly power from God. They’d rather seek it from elsewhere. Jesus called this an evil and adulterous generation.
A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And [Jesus] left them and departed. (Mark 16:4)
This is a key point to note: These people didn’t want truth from God. They didn’t want to engage in a personal relationship which includes personal responsibility, rights and wrongs, and God as the Ultimate Lord and Judge. They didn’t want His will to be done, but rather their own. Or they wanted His will in their own timing. In truth, people don’t want God. They want to either be god or make a golden calf to their own specifications, gods with their own personality traits just like the pantheons of the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians. Thus this people, in their spiritual rebellion, harlotry, and adultery, open themselves up to otherworldly wisdom, not from God, and are prime picking for demonic deceptions and Satanic seductions.
Just about every Real Housewives show I’ve seen--Atlanta and Miami, Jersey and Orange County--has had at least one cameo featuring some sort of witch. And there are other shows. Long Island Medium, Medium, Psychic Detectives, and many others I’m sure. And even the author Philip Pullman poorly composed the children’s book trilogy, His Dark Materials, leading with The Golden Compass which was turned into a movie (which, thankfully, flopped) features a little girl accompanied by a familiar in the form of a polar bear (they actually call it a “daemon familiar”) who meets with a witch portrayed by Nicole Kidman. The list goes on.
It is amazing to me that in all of our “sophistication,” in all of our advancements, even with access to the Bible at a level it has never been before, our societies have become as pagan at present as they were in the days of the ancients.
Since the legalization of Roe vs. Wade in 1973, we have sacrificed over 50 million innocent children on the altar of Baal. We consider ourselves medically advanced and kind because we do this in knock off “medical” clinics, yet we call the Barbarians of the Ancient World such as the Greeks, Romans, Carthaginians, Moabites, Ammonites, and Phoenicians cruel for exposing their unwanted children unto death.
We call ourselves free people expressing free love, yet we are as much in bondage to these false gods of old as the temple prostitutes, male and female, in Ancient Sumer and Canaan.
Jezebel is still making eunuchs of our young men and seducing them into the service of another god and stifling their ability to reproduce.
People still sacrifice their loved ones, their resources, and their peace of mind to the pursuit of riches.
And still, yes, still, witchcraft, overt and covert, are at the top of the list. But should we expect any different when witchcraft is referred to as the natural religion of fallen man (Derek Prince).
Yes, Baal, the Queen of Heaven, Jezebel, and Mammon are still served in full throughout the world. Without God, we are all godless heathens, no matter how “fancy” we think we are and how far we think we’ve come. I leave you with the words of the Prophet Isaiah:
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20)
