Open Letter to the Producers of Preachers of L.A.

Dear Producers of Preachers L.A.,

We need to talk. Seriously. First let me say, I AM a fan of the show. I watch avidly and will be conducting a written commentary (NOT a gossip column!) on this season for GospelToday.com for the sake of starting a positive, much-needed dialogue, so stay tuned if you so choose. And while I would not go so far to say that Preachers of L.A. is a “God idea,” it’s certainly a good idea. All this to say, again, I like the show. And I am in your ballpark, really.

Throughout this letter, I will present various points that I feel need to be addressed (as I’m sure many others do as well). Commencing with the Drama King himself, Deitrick Haddon.

Witchcraft & Deliverance Chronicles: Carol Kornacki (The Occult)

Carol Kornacki has an awesome testimony! I discovered her quite by accident when researching Doreen Irvine and other witchcraft deliverance testimonies on Youtube.

After a traumatic childhood and a troubled young adult life, Carol became a rogue or solitary witch. But God wasn't done with her and sent her a wonderful saint, planted in the pits of darkness, to find her and call her out into the marvelous light!

Preachers of L.A., Episode 1: Judgment vs. Being Judgmental *Spoiler Alert*

Preachers of L.A. is back for Season Two and is already full of action! We’re sharing with you about Episode One: “Judge Not.” In Season One, Gospel singer, Deitrick Haddon, was recovering from his recent divorce, the birth of his first child–out of wedlock, and a speedy engagement. All which had suspect timing and, understandably, tarnished his position as a Christian minister. Midway through the season, he embarked on a secret wedding to his now wife, Dominique. But what they did not reveal until after the public wedding in the season finale was that they were already expecting Baby #2!

This naturally put Pastor Jay Haizlip, the last-minute wedding officiant for the public wedding, in an extremely awkward position which he lovingly confronted Deitrick about in this first episode. Drama ensued.

What Robin Williams Can Teach Us about Depression

For decades, Robin Williams was the man that had us all–black and white, saved and unsaved, young and old–laughing. He lifted our spirits, all the while, his own spirit was being crushed beneath the weight of depression. What a tragic paradox! No amount of “R.I.P.s” can make his earthly or eternal death peaceful. From Scripture to Mary K. Baxter’s Divine Revelation of Hell, we know Hell and its ever-burning fire are very real. As the Church, we need to be straightforward about the topic of depression.

Dragon Lords

If you know me, then you know I love the BBC show, Merlin! I’ve always been a HUGE sucker for almost any version of the Arthurian Legend even if, like Merlin, it barely follows the actual story.

If you follow the BBC classic show (ended all too soon, much to my great sadness!), then you know that Merlin is a Dragon Lord. The gift, passed down to him from his father, allows him to “lord” over dragons and in fact, any being that may be even related to a dragon. And then, I had a revelation!

We, you and I, are called to be Dragon Lords!

Sign My Petition to Help #EndBlackJesus

Have you heard of Black Jesus?

I had, but never knew what it was about and certainly hadn’t seen a trailer–until today. I was prompted to look into it when Gospel singer, Isaac “Ike” Carree called his Facebook followers to call in and boycott the show. Obviously I couldn’t do so just because he asked me to, so I looked it up. I was in no way ready for the utter mockery that ensued. Join me in banning this foolishness today!

Witchcraft & Deliverance Chronicles: Doreen Irvine (The Occult)

Continuing with our Witchcraft & Deliverance Chronicles, this is the story of Doreen Irvine. Now if you, like me, grew up reading the Rebecca Brown books like He Came to Set the Captives Freethen this woman's story will sound eerily similar. Actually I believe, He Came to Set the Captives Free is "spiritual warfare fiction" meaning that absolutely everything that happens in those books is 200% real and actually happened--just not (entirely) to Dr. Brown and Elaine. And since lovely Doreen had been around for a long time (passed away this year, I believe) it makes sense that the book would be based on her life.

Nothing New Under the Sun

That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1:9)

King Solomon stated these words thousands of years ago and they ring true even now. There is truly nothing new under the sun. Yet with all this learning and never coming to the knowledge of truth, we have forgotten our past, our history. So with that in mind, here are seven things that are not new under the sun.
