3 Reasons to STOP Burning Sage (Smudging) [WATCH]

I wanted to dedicate a post to the practice of smudging a.k.a. burning sage...or better yet, why you should NOT smudge or burn sage. Whether you are involved in Wicca, New Age, Voodoo, or a Native American religion, smudging is a worldwide practice employed to cleanse a person or place of evil spirits or the more modern term, “negative energies.” 

And sadly, there were those who identify as Christians who actually practice this witchy ritual. Now I’m not talking about having sage in your seasoning cabinet. 

“...take heed to yourself that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do likewise.” -- Deuteronomy 12:30

You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their works; but you shall utterly overthrow them and completely break down their sacred pillars. -- Exodus 23:24

They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work. -- Titus 1:16

1. You Are NOT Cleansing Negative Energy.

Instead of cleansing negative energy (evil spirits), you are actually coming into agreement with the Kingdom of Hell. You are giving them legal agreement to do what they will.

2. You Are Opening Spiritual Doors.

You are opening spiritual doors in your life and the lives of your descendants that you will wish you had not. 

3. You Are Being Conditioned to Deny God.

Based on popular trends (or something deeper), you are rejecting the power of God in light of the power of the enemy. 

Even combining smudging with prayers and Scripture will not invite God into the situation. God does not partner with lesser, unclean powers.

I recently was led to watch part of a video on smudging by an Occult practitioner, and in it, she admitted some interesting facts. She said:

• She views burning sage (smudging) like a spirit.

• Smudging lowers your [spiritual] resistance.

• Smudging opens doors/portals in the spirit. 

• She actually attributes this to the reason her car was broken into--because she burned sage in it.

• She goes on to claim that smudging “can benefit you or it can be a curse.”

In a nutshell, you use sage to eradicate negative energies/spirits. Then you have to do another ritual to close the doors you opened by saging otherwise there could be negative repercussions. 

W O W .

Let me correct her final statement: SMUDGING WILL BE/BRING A CURSE. 

The spirits that people employ for their various Occultic crafts are UNSTABLE and MALEVOLENT. They DO NOT have your best interests at mind. If it appears that way, it will only do so for as long as it serves the devil’s purpose. And the spirits that you call upon will be the same ones that will come to torment you if you get out of step with Satan’s plan for your life.
