The Origin of Demons, Part III
Hello friends! We’re continuing with learning about “The Origin of Demons.” In Part I, we dealt with the first theory: that fallen angels and demons are synonymous. In Part II, we dealt with the theory that fallen angels are the disembodied spirits of a pre-Adamic race created, judged, and disembodied between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2. In this post, we’ll deal with the third theory: that demons are the disembodied spirits of the “Seed of the Serpent.” We’ll also get into why in biblical, historical, and mythological views, the Seed of the Serpent so hated humanity (and hates them still). Let’s dive in!
Demons are the Disembodied Seed of the Serpent.

According to Perry Stone and Jewish tradition--including that reflected in Scripture--this is the most plausible theory of how demons came to be. I admit, I was determined to be “right” in my belief of the second theory after listening to Perry’s compelling teaching and all of its sources, I became convinced that he--and not I--was right. Let us begin with...the beginning.
So the Lord God said to the serpent:
“Because you have done this,
You are cursed more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you shall go,
And you shall eat dust
All the days of your life.
And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”
(Genesis 3:14-15)
Simply put, the Seed of the Serpent is a twisted, corrupted form of humanity “made,” not in the image and likeness of God, but in the image and likeness of Satan, that Serpent of old. Technically, Satan cannot create anything or anyone. However, the angels who fell with him became sons through ideology--spiritual sons if you will--and two delegations of these “sons” came down among women and produced half-human, half-angel, whole-demon offspring. You know them through the mythologies of the world as “demi-gods,” giants, and all of the other humanoid monstrosities of old.
Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. (Genesis 6:1-4)
Achilles, the supposed demi-god offspring of Zeus, the champion of the Greeks, who won his fame in the Trojan War when he was smote by an arrow to his "Achilles" heel.
The evidence of these giantish fiends, these man-hating monstrosities, is seen in the inhabitants of Canaan at the time which the Children of Israel went on their conquest: King Og of Bashan, the inhabitants of Jericho, and more. According to Perry Stone and the archaeological evidence that has been found in the Holy Land, these giants--known as Nephilim in Hebrew--were strategically placed, not just in the Promised Land, but at the very gates of the Promised Land. Presumably, to intimidate the Jews from taking it and appropriating the promise of God for their nation.
“Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there….” But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.” And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” (Numbers 13:28, 31-33)
Thankfully, one of the blessings on Abraham’s promised offspring was that they would possess the gates of their enemies!
And they blessed Rebekah [Isaac’s wife, Abraham’s daughter-in-law] and said to her: “Our sister, may you become The mother of thousands of ten thousands; And may your descendants possess The gates of those who hate them.” (Genesis 24:60 emphasis mine)
We see these giants again at the next major juncture in Israel’s history: when they are transitioning from judges to kings. Goliath, said to be the descendant of the Moabitess, Orpah, is the Philistine champion seeking to intimidate Saul and his army from establishing their kingdom and breaking the yoke of the Philistines (Ancient-day Palestinians). However, the descendant of Orpah's sister-in-law, Ruth, also lived and he would not be intimidated by an “uncircumcised Philistine.” The young prince named David slew the giant and took his head! After David’s Mighty Men slew Goliath’s four giant brothers, the Nephilim (at least in Ancient Israel) were no more (II Samuel 21:15-22, I Chronicles 20:4-8). (See I Samuel 17 for David and Goliath’s story.)
Not only the Bible, but science proves the existence of these giants, in the Promised Land and elsewhere. Dolmans, better known as stone tables (now we know where C.S. Lewis got it from!) are said to be the building of the giants and the evidence of them can be seen in Lebanon, Britain Ireland, Scandinavia, Spain, Portugal, France, and Algeria.
Biblical Archeology Review Magazine states that giant footprints measuring 3 feet in length are found carved in the stone leading into a temple itself; two on first slab, then a single left print on the next slab.
“If some giant had paused on the entry way before striding into the building. In ancient conception the temple was the abode of the god, which is why these have been interpreted as the Resident god or goddess.”
Not far from this temple location is the Golan Heights (perhaps a couple hours’ journey); the area of Bashan, King Og’s dwelling. (See Numbers 32:33) (The name “Og” means “long neck.”) He was mentioned 22 times in Scripture and ruled 60 cities. Og’s bed was 9 cubits long by 4 cubits wide which amounts to about 13-17 feet long (Deuteronomy 3:11). With measurements such as these, it’s no wonder these were considered the “mighty men who were of old, men of renown.” The International Standard Version states Genesis 6:4 this way:
The Nephilim were on the earth at that time (and also immediately afterward), when those divine beings were having sexual relations with those human women, who gave birth to children for them. These children became the heroes and legendary figures of ancient times.
Hercules (Greek) a.k.a. Heracles (Roman), another supposed demi-god son of Zeus (Greek)/Jupiter (Roman).
All of your Ancient mythologies are rooted in truth although they became exaggerated, twisted, and perverted over time. Just as Goliath was real, so were Hercules, Achilles, Gilgamesh, and many others. Were they demi-gods? Of course, not. But they were only half-human, and not at all divine; the sons of the fallen angels. And many mythologies around the world tell of giants, from Greece to Greenland.
An example of this would be the cyclops. Said to be the sons of Poseidon, the sea-god (Triton’s daddy and thus, The Little Mermaid’s granddaddy), we remember vividly how the youngest Cyclops brother, Polyphemus, devoured some of Odysseus’ men in his Odyssey upon leaving the Trojan War.

We hear tell of King Minos’ infamous Minotaur who was imprisoned in the equally infamous Labyrinthe to which unfortunate people were fed. This Minotaur--half-bull, half-human--was said to be born of Minos’ queen, Pasiphae, who was fated to fall in love with the king’s famous white, Cretan Bull, by Poseidon in a greedy rage. (The bull was meant to be a sacrifice to him.) Now quite obviously, I don’t believe that a human woman could commit bestiality and give birth to a half-bull humanoid because of it. Bestiality is practiced (just check out some of the hazing practices that go on in some of these “extra” Caucasian college fraternities!!!) and was often committed in the Ancient World, but no such union has ever actually produced offspring. However, I personally believe that nothing was to withhold the corrupted angels from raping animals and producing more inhuman monstrosities like Pan, the Minotaur, and more.
I give you these two examples, both from Greek mythology, to make a point: the utter wickedness and man-hating of the Seed of the Serpent. The Legends of the Jews states:
“The depravity of mankind, which began to show itself in the time of Enosh, had increased monstrously in the time of his grandson Jared by reason of the fallen angels. When the angels saw the beautiful, attractive daughters of men, they lusted after them and begat children with them. Giants begotten by the flesh and spirits will be called evil spirits on earth, and on earth will be their dwelling place. Evil spirits will proceed from their bodies, because they were created from above, and from the holy watchers is their beginning primal origin; they will be evil spirits on the earth, and evil spirits they will be named. And the spirits of heaven have their dwelling in heaven, but the spirits of earth, which were born upon earth, have their dwelling upon the earth. And the spirits of giants will devour, oppress, destroy, attack, and do battle and cause destruction on the earth and work affliction… they will be invisible. And these spirits shall raise up against the children of men and against women, because they have proceeded from them, thus they will destroy until the day which the consummation of the great world be consummated…” (Legends of the Jews, “Spirits of the Giants Became Demon Spirits!” pg. 124-132)
The hatred these evil spirits exhibited toward humanity is undeniable. Scripture, history, and mythology speak of it. Let us speculate as to the reasons for this otherworldly hatred.
Why Did the Nephilim Hate Humanity?
One, we know Scripturally, that no fallen angel nor demon can attain salvation or redemption. When the angels fell from Heaven, that was it. No repentance was available to the angels. And because the fathers were damned, so their humanoid offspring was born automatically damned to Hell as well. That’s one good reason for them to hate humans if you ask me!
Two, we know that the Seed of the Serpent was born to try and circumvent the coming of the Seed of the Woman (Jesus).
“And I will put enmity
Between you [Satan] and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise your head,
And you shall bruise His heel.”
(Genesis 3:15)
Their very nature was at enmity with God and humanity. One were created in God’s image and likeness, the other were corrupted reproductions of Satan’s utter wickedness. But Jesus came to redeem man and destroy the works of the enemy--and his terrestrial offspring.
The Nephilim may have died in their fleshly form, but their spirit lives on as the demons we war against.
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. (I John 3:8)
These demons even tried taunted Jesus on the cross when they thought His manifestation was all for naught.
Many bulls have surrounded Me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled Me. (Psalm 22:12)
This was one of the Messianic prophecies of David and I believe he was given the ability to feel a portion of or sense some of Jesus’ pain and suffering on the cross. But the demons lost!!!
“But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.” (Matthew 12:28)
Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, “What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” (Luke 4:36)
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” (Matthew 28:18)
“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons…” (Mark 16:17)
"And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly," (Romans 16:20). A military leader placing their heel on the necks of the enemy ruler is an ancient sign of victory over the enemy. We see this literally in Joshua 10:24-25.
Three, the fathers of the Nephilim were damned to a very special part of Hell for their special crimes against God and humanity.
And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day… (Jude 1:6)
God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment… (II Peter 2:4)
“Hell from beneath is excited about you,
To meet you at your coming;
It stirs up the dead for you,
All the chief ones of the earth;
It has raised up from their thrones
All the kings of the nations.
They all shall speak and say to you:
‘Have you also become as weak as we?
Have you become like us?
Your pomp is brought down to Sheol,
And the sound of your stringed instruments;
The maggot is spread under you,
And worms cover you.’”
(Isaiah 14:9-11)
I believe, because of this judgment, their offspring tried to kill as many human beings as possible.
